You will need:

  • Halloween Seek and Find download (get it below!)

  • Tape

  • Markers or crayons

  • Optional, but helpful: clipboards for every student

Instructions:

  1. Download and print the Halloween Seek and Find Activity. Cut out the cards you’d like to use. We’ve included two versions: one that matches the pictures on the recording sheet exactly, and one that uses colorful and slightly different pictures to make the activity a little harder. Choose which version is right for your students!

  2. Tape the picture cards up around the room. You can make it easy by just putting them in plain sight, or harder by hiding them.

  3. Give each child a clipboard with the recording sheet and some markers or crayons. As they go around the room and find the pictures, they get to color the matching picture on the recording sheet. Keep going until you’ve found them all!

Why Halloween Seek and Find?

There's something magical about turning the classroom into a treasure hunt! Children become little detectives as they carefully search every corner of the room.

While children are having fun searching for flashcards, they're also developing a variety of important preschool skills, including:

  • Visual discrimination

  • Matching skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Observation skills

  • Listening and following directions

  • Fine motor skills while coloring

  • Gross motor skills through movement around the classroom

How to Adapt this Activity

You can easily adapt this activity for different age groups and skill levels.

Try asking children to:

  • Name the Halloween picture before coloring it.

  • Count how many flashcards they have found.

  • Describe where they discovered each card using position words like under, behind, or next to.

  • Find the cards in a specific order.

  • Work with a partner to search together.

We hope you love this activity as much as we do!
