Crispy Rice Cereal Nests Spring or Easter Cooking Activity
Spring is the perfect time to bring a little festive fun into the kitchen, and this simple spring or Easter cooking activity is a great way to do it. Kids love hands-on projects, and making crispy cereal nests is just the right balance of easy, creative, and delicious. We’ve also created a fun printable to practice sequencing that you can do while you’re cooking! You can find it in our shop!
You will need:
1 box of crispy rice cereal
3 Tbsp butter
1 bag mini marshmallows
1 bag candy eggs
Non-stick cooking spray
Large bowl
Large pot
Spoons
Muffin Tin

Instructions:
Download and print the Crispy Rice Cereal Nests printable to fill out together while you make the recipe. The download includes full instructions and a fun sequencing worksheet!
Measure 6 cups of crispy rice cereal into a bowl.
Melt the butter in a large pot over the stove (make sure a grown up does this part!).
Once the butter is melted, add the whole bag of mini marshmallows into the same pot. Stir them until melted.
Pour the melted butter and marshmallows into the bowl of cereal and stir to combine.
Spray the muffin tin and a spoon with non-stick cooking spray.
Scoop some of the cereal mixture into the muffin tin. Use the spoon to shape it into a nest. Repeat for each hole in the muffin tin.
Once all of the nests are made, let them cool and harden.
Once cooled, remove each nest and fill with candy eggs. Enjoy!
